Staff at Strategic are well trained. They receive both initial and on-going training opportunities throughout their employment.
Master-level family therapists receive training in Strategic Family Therapy and crisis intervention. Therapists will also learn a Strategic approach to working with oppositional children, our unique approach to working with families who have experienced violence and abuse, the use of metaphors and paradoxes, and much more.
Organized into modules, the training leads therapists through a logical progression of learning the approach, building knowledge and skills as they go. At 6 months, 12 months, and 24 months, therapists achievements are recognized through promotions and a bonus for accomplishing each milestone.
Optional certificate training programs are also available in areas including school problems, grief/loss, trauma, oppositional-defiant children, and more.
One of the most important elements of learning this approach is taking the knowledge you have acquired and applying it to your work. At Strategic, therapists are learning about the approach through reading books, watching videos, and listening to tapes. At the same time, they are applying what they learn to their cases and receiving ongoing clinical guidance in the approach.
Bachelor-level counselors receive training in the Nurtured Heart Approach, crisis intervention, working with children with behavior problems, and much more. Their training is also organized into modules with each one building on the last.
Mastery of the Nurtured Heart Approach is the cornerstone of our Day Treatment Program. Training of this approach consists of several modules broken down over a 6 month period of time. These modules focus on the core principals of the Nurtured Heart Approach and ensure staff not only understand the concepts but are comfortable and proficient at applying them. Each module consists of learning the concept via reading or video, then applying what is learned on a daily basis within the Day Treatment Setting. During the practical application of each module staff will be guided by the program co-coordinator and child therapist . At the conclusion of the training staff will be evaluated on their ability to practically apply the Nurtured Heart Approach and presented with a certificate of mastery.
Master-level staff working in this program may also qualify to receive clinical supervision toward licensure.
