Family Therapists​

Family therapists prevent the unnecessary placement of children in Strategic's intensive in-home program.In this position, you would learn and apply Strategic Family Therapy approach to working with clients. This position's responsibilities include

• Provide individual and family therapy in client's home. 
• Maintain regular contact with community collaterals on treatment goals.
• Positively represent agency in making community contacts.
• Provide case management and 24 hour crisis intervention services. 
• Participate in clinical supervision and follow directives. 
• Develop and implement treatment plans.
• Complete client documentation, maintaining high quality & meeting deadlines.
• Meet productivity quotas.

To qualify for the position, you must have a master degree (social work, psychology, counseling, sociology, special education), at least one year of clinical experience (providing behavioral health services to children or adolescents with mental health diagnosis), and be licensed or licensure-eligible. Applicant must be available to work flexible scheduling including afternoon, evening, and weekends.

Full- and part-time opportunities are available in Lynchburg and Danville.

Counselors

• Counselors make a difference in the lives of children by helping them stay at school and function better at home and in the community.They work with at-risk children in day treatment program. Program participants have significant mental health and behavioral issues. Counselors are assigned to school-based, after-school, and/or summer programs.

• Responsibilities for this position include

  < >Provide direct therapeutic services to children in day treatment programWork with children individually and in groupsHelp improve children's behavior issues and school performance.  Develop and implement treatment plansCreate and carry out activity plans that address treatment goals. Maintain regular contact with parents & keep updated on children's progress.Complete client documentation, maintaining high quality & meeting deadlines. Transport clients to and from program daily.This position requires a bachelor degree in a human services related area (social work, psychology, counseling, sociology, special education) and at least one year of clinical experience (providing behavioral health services to children or adolescents with mental health diagnosis).

  Mental Health Skill Building Specialists

  Mental Health Skill Building Specialists prevent institutionalization and repetitive inpatient stays of adult clients through the development and implementation of flexible client-oriented programs designed to assist the client in living an active and productive life within their community.

  Position responsibilities include

  < >Empower clients to maintain themselves safely in the community.Help clients access community resources to ensure healthy livingAccess transportation, medical care, housing.Help clients develop skills to use community resources independently.  Work collaboratively with client to develop treatment plans. Assist with financial responsibilitiesAdvocate regarding mental health treatment including medication education Assist with finding legal resourcesAccess benefits like Medical Assistance, SSI, SSDI, etc. Reduce hospitalizationImprove family relationships and social network Help client maintain employmentMaintain contact with community collateralsTransport clients to community resources and appointments.Complete client documentations, maintaining high quality & meeting deadlines. The above services are provided both in the home and the communityThis position requires previous clinical experience (providing psychiatric or mental health services to individuals who have psychiatric diagnosis) with an adult population. Bachelors degree is preferred. Positions are available in Lynchburg. Part-time opportunities are available.
